The use of color in your calligraphy can be a delightful revelation. But what sort of medium works best for Copperplate, and how do we actually write in color? In this workshop we will learn the basics of writing with gouache, generally acknowledged as the calligrapher’s choice for its range of tones, its opacity, and its beautiful effects.
We will experiment with color on black and on colored papers, as well as on white. Understanding the technique of color mixing will enable you to discover a vast range of color possibilities, which will improve and expand your skills as a calligraphic artist.
