Yves Leterme

By profession a teacher of Latin and Greek, Yves Leterme quit his school job in 2010 to become a full time calligrapher.

In his home studio in Bruges (Belgium) he took on all sorts of commissions —and still does so on occasion— but teaching has always been his main vocation and occupation. For twenty years he has toured extensively
around the globe to conduct workshops and presentations for societies and conferences.

Eager to bring his approach and methods to an even wider audience, he developed and taught some in-depth classes on four of his favorite topics, which were well received. More info on these pre-recorded and self-paced classes: www.acornartsclassroom.org.

Yves is especially known for his versatile gestural lettering, his minutely drawn capitals and his richly textured, abstract calligraphic paintings.

His work has been selected for inclusion in many juried shows and his artwork can be found in manuals, magazines, museums and private collections... and on Instagram of course.

He’s the author of Thoughtful Gestures, the Litterae box and of Palimpsest, his latest book that contains an anthology of his non-commercial work of the past decade.

Being semi-retired now, he enjoys the luxury of choosing the jobs he really wants to do. Teaching is then still the first thing that comes to mind.
