Vivian Mungall
Vivian Mungall studied calligraphy with Larry Menser in Plantation, Florida. After moving to Kansas City, she went to work with Stephen A. Ziller, owner of Ziller of Kansas City, a professional engrossing art (calligraphy) studio. Steve was the second owner of the studio founded in 1894 by Frederick W. Tamblyn. With her husband, Richard, they became partners in the studio. The studio creates certificates, diplomas, awards, scrolls and resolutions for a wide range of associations, corporations, and schools nationwide. In 2012, the studio moved to Orlando, Florida. Sebastien Saint-Ouen joined Vivian and Rich as a partner in 2013. Vivian specializes in broad pen lettering, copperplate script and illumination. She was recognized as a Master Penman at the 2002 IAMPETH convention. She became President of IAMPETH in 2009 and hosted the annual convention in Orlando in 2010. The research for the Cadel class for an IAMPETH conference grew into two books; in 2018, the ebook, Cadels, How to Do Manual with Historical Examples and Cadel Families and in 2020 the print edition, Cadels, A How-To-Manual with Pattern Families for these Decorative Calligraphic Capitals. With COVID shutdowns, Vivian had more time and started teaching calligraphy online.
