Filip Ciślak (1988) is a designer, letter artist, and calligrapher based in Katowice, Poland. On top of that, he's also an academic teacher at the Graphic Design Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. He earned his Ph.D. in 2022 for his work on methodology and visual systems designed to teach calligraphy to graphic design students.
He first became interested in calligraphy in 2012 in the Type and Lettering class during his studies. Self-taught at first, he refined his skills by attending workshops and studying historical works. His interest in calligraphy is exploring new possibilities and appliances in graphic design and visual arts.
Over the years, he has conducted live calligraphy workshops across Poland and in other locations such as Helsinki, Bratislava, and Zlin. Furthermore, he's been regularly running calligraphy workshops for students at the Academy since 2016. Currently, he's been successfully conducting online calligraphy classes, where he's had the privilege to work with students from all over the world. His works have been exhibited in Poland and abroad.
