Betina Naab

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1972, Betina Naab earned her Graphic Design degree from the University of Buenos Aires. She further developed her artistic skills by studying painting under the renowned Argentinian artist Roberto Parini, whose influence deeply shaped her style. Her formal calligraphy training began in Buenos Aires and continued at Roehampton University in London, UK, where she studied with Ewan Clayton, Margaret Daubney, Sue Hufton, and Hazel Dolby. She has also attended workshops with prominent calligraphers from the United States, England, Italy, Japan, and other countries.

Currently, Betina works as a calligrapher, designer, and teacher at the Roballos Naab studio, which she co-founded with María Eugenia Roballos in Buenos Aires in 2003. Together, they teach calligraphy in the Typography Master’s program at the University of Buenos Aires. Additionally, Betina is the head professor for Typography I and Typography II at UCES University, where the curriculum begins with an entire semester dedicated to calligraphy.

She frequently conducts workshops at universities and associations in Argentina and abroad. Her teaching experience includes sessions in Japan, the UK, and Italy, where she has also exhibited her work and lectured at conferences. Her artwork has been featured in magazines such as Letter Arts Review and books like Mastering Calligraphy, as well as on numerous websites and blogs.

Throughout her career, she has participated in solo and group exhibitions both in Argentina and internationally. Passionate about handwritten letters, she enjoys experimenting with various surfaces and tools, pushing the boundaries of legibility and expression in her calligraphic pieces.
