Starting Date : 06 August 2022

Fees : HK$ 1,000 or US$ 130

Workshop Description

The target of this course is to get people interested in medieval flourishes to create modern versals using 14th century patterns.

We will explore the old rules of drawing and splitting versals to bring new characters to life through exercises that will cover the whole alphabet.

In a second step, we will study medieval patterns of filigrees and mix them together to decorate the split versals, not forgetting the antennas to bring fun and life.

We will work on paper with pointed nibs and brushes with ink and paint and also with liners for bigger and more contemporary works.

Class 01 : Drawing versals and splitting them, medieval rules and contemporary add ons.

Class 02 : Studying medieval filigree patterns (not covered in previous filigree courses).

Class 03 : Getting the filigree to match the versal and vice versa.

Class 04 :  The cherry on the cake, let’s go for antennas.
