Workshop Description
Every holiday season, our senses are overwhelmed with poinsettias, holly boughs, glittery wrapping paper, evergreen trees, and mistletoe. It is a time when ornamentation rules the day. Whether you want to add a special touch of delight to an envelop or card, embellish your calligraphic work or create unique stand-alone designs that are suitable for framing, this class will give you the skills of offhand flourishing using white ink, cookie cutters, and dark papers. The use of white ink on dark backgrounds transforms your way of seeing the flourish. You will be able to see the counter spaces clearly and hone your ability to critique your own work. The emerging designs are as delicate as lacework on paper. Lesson one will explore simple designs such as stars, snowflakes, wreaths and trees. Lesson two will explore whimsical character designs that can add such a charming touch to the season. The process is meditative and inviting and you will be amazed with the results. There is something for all skill levels in this workshop.
