Workshop Description
This course takes the student through the process of drawing, gilding, and painting a beautiful, decorated letter. When you learn the basics of how to design these Victorian Versals, you can vary the styles and add anything you can imagine to them. In this special Peacock Edition of The Alphabet Garden, we will learn how to draw, gild, and paint a gorgeous peacock to embellish the letter. The letter is painted with an inlay technique, and we will learn how to create a luminous peacock through both wet and dry brush watercolours. This painting technique can be applied to other projects in the future that require an iridescent effect. There is so much to learn from this special Peacock Edition class of The Alphabet Garden. Session one: exploring the letter shape, the structure of the peacock and drawing the design Session two: Gilding and painting the peacock and letter. Learning how to create luminous effects with watercolours.
