Italic Brush-Up
With Eleanor Winters
Starting Date : 04 Feb 2023
Fees : HK$ 740 or US$ 95
Workshop Description
For students who have some experience with Italic calligraphy, this two-day workshop will be both a review of the basics and an opportunity to fine-tune and improve their skills. Focusing on this traditional Renaissance script, sometimes known as Chancery Cursive, we will review the alphabet in "family groups" and emphasize the importance of consistency in form, positive and negative space, and basic rules of spacing. It's a lot to cover in a few hours, so be prepared to work hard!
Students with all levels of Italic skill are welcome, as long as they are familiar with the broad-edged pen and basic concepts of pen angle and letter proportions.
Please note: for students who have signed up for the Italic Master Class -- or those who intend to do so -- this will be a valuable preparation for that upcoming 12-week course. We are scheduling Italic Brush-Up a week before the Master Class begins, in hopes that those of you who are somewhat out of practice can warm up in advance of the class.
