You are invited to join penmaker/calligrapher Brian Smith and the Gentle Penman for a FREE Live Online discussion/demonstration.  This will be an informal discussion about Brian’s gorgeous, professional, handmade calligraphy pens.  Brian will talk about how he became interested in calligraphy as well as woodworking at a fairly young age.  He will talk about his calligraphy journey, and how that segued into the creation of his company “Unique Oblique Custom Pens, LLC”.

Brian has a special affinity for ancient, medieval manuscripts, and the beautiful decorative elements that the medieval scribes, decorators, and illuminators used to create those timeless treasures.  As time permits, we will take a look at some authentic medieval works, and perhaps discuss some of the materials and methodologies that were used to create those historic pieces.

Please join us for this free “demo” as we take a good close look at some of Brian’s world-class calligraphy pens; and as we delve into some fun-and-interesting discussions on medieval-style calligraphy.

This free demo is a precursor to an online class that Brian will be offering soon (that class will also be on the Gentle Penman’s online platform).  Please consider enrolling in that class also; where we will focus on drawing/inking/painting medieval-style versal letters, and various ways the medieval scribes decorated and embellished them!
