1. Introduction to Gothic Script

  • Exploring different Gothic Script styles
     

2. Tools and Materials

  • Essential calligraphy tools for Gothic Script

  • Choosing the right pens, nibs, and ink

  • Importance of paper and practice sheets for optimal results
     

3. Foundational Strokes and Letterforms

  • Basic strokes and fundamental letterforms

  • Practice exercises for consistency and control

  • Step-by-step guidance on lowercase letters
     

4. Spacing, Alignment, and Layout

  • Techniques for proper letter and word spacing

  • Guidelines for text alignment and composition

  • Tips for creating balanced and visually appealing layouts
     

5. Refining Your Skills

  • Overcoming common challenges and improving consistency

  • Drills and practice sessions for speed and accuracy
     

6. Final Project

  • Creating a finished piece in lowercase letters

  • Individual feedback and instructor guidance

  • No prior calligraphy experience required – open to beginners

  • A genuine interest in learning and practicing Gothic Script

  • This is a live online workshop conducted via Zoom. Please ensure you have a Zoom account to access the live lesson.

  • Students will be granted access to the workshop boarding page within 24 hours of registration.

  • All live lessons will be recorded and made available for 90 days following the final lesson.

  • Recordings will expire on Tuesday, 20 October, 2026 at 12:00 pm (Hong Kong Standard Time).

  • Homework may be submitted to the discussion board for Ash to critique.

  • Workshop handouts (if any), Zoom links and recordings are posted on the workshop page one week prior to the first lesson (or as soon as practicable).
