With Martha Laurens

Starting date : 10 August 2024

Fees : HK$ 1,000 or US$ 130

Workshop Description

Students will learn about making shell gold and several techniques from different cultures that use shell gold as an art form. This workshop is interactive, and students has to work on the project during the lesson so Martha can help with the problematic area. Students can finish their project after the lesson and work on it as homework. In the first lesson, students will start by understanding the origin of the Shell Gold that they are about to create. Then, student will also learn to make shell gold using a different medium as a binder and continue learning how to apply shell gold from different binders using the first technique on a simple design.

On the second lesson of the workshop, student will learn a brief history of the second design, from creating a traditional layout to transferring it onto paper and applying the second shell gold and painting technique with gouache and watercolour. In the last lesson, student will finish by going over the troubleshooting from the last session and then using a different surface to work with the shell gold and chalk.
