In this workshop, student will learn how to create an illuminated letter and get an introduction to medieval book illumination. Student will also learn how to mix their own gesso, gild and paint your own letter.

Lesson 1 - Introduction to the subject of medieval book illumination and showing student how to make a design drawing for your letter. Student will also mix their own gesso for gilding in Lesson 2.

Lesson 2 - How to apply the gesso and gild. Furthermore, start with the first basic paint layer for your letter.

Lesson 3 - Complete your illuminated letter with shadows, highlights and other embellishments.

•  This is a live online workshop via Zoom (please make sure you have a Zoom account to access the workshop)

• All live sessions will be recorded and available for 60 days following the final class.
