Capitals Textures & Japanese Book

With Gabriela Soba

Starting date : 5 October 2024

Fees : HK$ 1,170 or US$ 150

Workshop Description

Experimental work workshop to discover our alphabet in capital letters, starting from formal letter.

The alphabet generated in the workshop can give space to your own creation of other alphabets.

We study the stroke of different tools that provide us with comfort and quality in their stroke. We will create a pattern or texture of letters on some type of fabric. Starting to think about the design of our exterior of the book.

The design of the artist's book will be a combination of color, material and alphabet. The design will be displayed in the form of an exterior texture and composed text inside. Therefore, the applications of the work may be different for each student.

Each participant will be able to work with the tool they feel most comfortable with to create their own design in the final text for the interior.

We understand color through the discovery of our color palette, in watercolors, ink or goauche depending on the design we want to express.

We put together the design of the book and its structure to close it with one (or several) Japanese stitching (s).

It is not necessary to have experience in bookbinding. Workshop for beginners or advanced.
