In this workshop student will create expressive and personal scripts and then combine them to achieve new graphic effects. Working with a variety of pens, student will be asked to invent styles of calligraphy to express emotions, associations, and other ideas. These new styles of writing will then be combined to tell two or more sides of a story. Student will look at questions of legibility and challenge the idea that reading must be clear and easy. Student will create works of art that may be more difficult to read but, at the same time, more exciting and satisfying to the eye. Calligraphy is the art of inventing new letterforms and new black/white relationships. Bringing scripts together is an excellent way to stretch yourself and explore new styles of writing.

•  This is a live online workshop via Zoom (please make sure you have a Zoom account to access the workshop)

• All live sessions will be recorded and available for 60 days following the final class.

• All recordings expires on Friday, 22 December, 2023 at 12:00 pm Hong Kong Standard Time.
