Copperplate calligraphy can be as effective a choice for creating textured writing as the more traditional scripts such as Textura and other Gothic alphabets. Using Copperplate, we will create sample blocks of writing that are dense and tightly “woven”, as well as open and light-weight, as well as other possibilities.

We will look at some letterform variations that enable us to rethink interlinear spacing, creating lines of writing that result in densely textured writing, as well open spacing that can lend itself to flourishing and decorative effects.
