Every advanced level calligraphy class has its foundations in the basic principles of calligraphy:  shape or form, slant, proportions and weight, with particular emphasis on spacing. 

In this two-session workshop, we will look closely at these principles to create letterforms and words that combine accuracy with elegance. By zeroing in on some of the easily missed details of Copperplate, we will attempt to increase our perceptions and critical abilities as calligraphers. 

In addition, this workshop will address some other fundamental skills – drawing lines, choosing and testing nibs and paper, and selecting appropriate quotes and texts for our personal artwork.
